Re: Shots fired in Washington DC Today
Maybe on the "evil scale", but not on the WWII era murder scale.
EDIT: Holy crap, I didn't make it past page 3 of this thread. This thread really doesn't seem to be about the incident in DC. And, having read it, I think I need to point out that my post above was NOT any kind of pro-Nazi/WWII skeptic post. I was just pointing out that Soviets and socialists have caused more harm, misery, and death than all other evils in the history of man combined.Last edited by ungawa; June 10th, 2009 at 07:26 PM.

Museum officials identified the dead guard as Stephen T. Johns, a six-year veteran of the facility. Director Sara Bloomfield said he "died heroically in the line of duty."
As a fellow armed Security Officer I send my condolences to the family and friends of this brave man."Having a gun and thinking you are armed is like having a piano and thinking you are a musician" Col. Jeff Cooper (U.S.M.C. Ret.)

Re: Shots fired in Washington DC Today
While I used to believe that there was a very small minority of racists and hate mongers among the active posters on this board, the last few months have shown me that this group is not very small, and may not even be in the minority. Sad really.
Seems like the guard may have saved a lot of lives by sacrificing his own, that is what is known as giving the fullest measure of yourself. I hope he rests in a special place.

Re: Shots fired in Washington DC Today
Had I felt like leveling the accusation at specific individuals for specific views, I certainly would have posted them. I was making an observation, that was not limited to this thread, based on my own perception. Had I been crying for mod or admin intervention, or leveling charges of favoritism for certain individuals, I would certainly also been required to name them.
We are mostly big boys here, I am sure with a little time you will be able to identify them all on your own.

Re: Shots fired in Washington DC Today
The first thing to be remembered is the security guard got killed because of the deranged hatred of his murderer, and that's an unspeakable tragedy in itself.
I hesitate to comment on what they used to call "racialism," namely discrimination against Jews, because the subject matter is potentially inflammatory. I'm not all that much given to the warm fuzzies, either.
The larger implications of the Holocaust aren't just about the Jews. It happened to the Jews of Europe, and the industrial scale and implementation of deranged hatred in a supposedly civilized society can't be forgotten. But the lesson to be learned is about genocide and totalitarianism. Singling out a people for exclusion from society and even for murder is just wrong. Crushing the liberties of a people is wrong. (I do mean to include taking their arms away.)
Supposedly it can never happen here in the United States. Let's hope that's the case.

Re: Shots fired in Washington DC Today
Yes but do I actually care?
No I dont....ive been around long enough to be able to take them with a grain of salt. On any forum the politics/news section is always the most heated regardless of the forums theme...in this case....firearms etc. If their ilk is not wanted then maybe we shouldnt have a sandbox for them to play in.
