    Default Tom Corbett and OC

Does anyone know if we have gotten some sort of letter or position from the AG Tom Corbett on OC?
The reason I ask is this:
I was talking to an acquaintance about guns. Ironically we were in DC and were both annoyed about being disarmed. He has a LTCF and carries almost everywhere, mostly because of threats he received working with the republican party last fall.
But I digress, the topic of OC inevitable came up and he told me that it was illegal in PA. I told him it wasn't and he said he was very sure it was. Apparently he had worked as a staffer, intern, or such for Tom Corbett and had actually asked him about OC. I'm sorry i don't remember the exact wording as I was drinking and this was a few weeks ago, but he said Tom said something like 'police officers and other officials' only.
I tried to show him the PAOC website on my phone, but he said 'its just a website', which is a fair defense as the internet has a lot of crap on it (not saying anything about PAOC website, its great, esp. in its new form).

Any Ideas, maybe we should send Tom a letter. I'm glad I found out about this, as Tom very well may be our next governor.

Regardless of Tom Corbett's opinion, open carry is legal. On top of that, I highly doubt that Tom Corbett considers open carry to be illegal.

Its legal regardless of your friend's beliefs. I do believe also that PA's Attorney General lacks the authority of "legal opinion".

    1. there is no law saying it is illegal, PA law doesn't address open carry - only concealed carry, in a vehicle, and carrying(open and concealed) in a city of the first class is addressed.
    2. the PA Supreme Court, and lower courts, have affirmed it several times.

Here is the response I received from the Attorney General's office.

+1 right there...Toxic Tom doesn't strike me as the kinda guy who'd mess with it. Plus, its legal...so that's that.

Greg and I OC'd in the presence of and spoke with Tom Corbett last Feb. Since we weren't charged I'm pretty sure he knows it's legal

Then I guess the only thing left for you two to do in PA is OC while having a chat with the Governor. So when's the sit down with Rendell? I want pics and video.

Tom Corbett has been a solid friend of gun owners and pro-rights people for many years in all regards.
We're damn lucky to have him as a friend and on our side.

Comments such as "Toxic Tom" are not in the best interests of gun owners. I'd appreciate it if that post was modified.
