Scotia is closed on weekends?
I just got back from driving there, and it was closed. There was a sign saying it's only open M-F 8am-4:30pm
Very disappointing. Do they get better hours come March?

Once "spring" hits they should be opening up on weekends. However I don't predict that happening in march, come april you should be gtg

You can always shoot on the outside range. I like to go on weekends because it's fairly empty, since a lot of people don't like the outside part.

Really? It was empty but I was afraid to. I didn't know if it was legal or not.
Are you sure? I don't want to get arrested :P

Re: Scotia is closed on weekends?
That portion is called the auxilary range. It's not maintained quite the same as the main range but the range rules (rifles 3, handguns 6) still apply. However, you can get closer to the targets on the handgun side without someone having a fit, as long as you are doing it safely. Also, standard targets are to be used, no TV's, pop bottles, etc. Also, you should police up after yourself just like on the main range. On the weekend, you will only be able to get to it from the Grays Woods side unless you want to hike (until they start opening up again) because there are barriers up across the range road (it is not supposed to be a through road) when the range is closed.

Do I need to bring cardboard backings for it or are they supplied?

Re: Scotia is closed on weekends?
Anyone know what dimensions the backings should be or anywhere I could buy them?
Scraping together cardboard on campus is going to be annoying.

Try a furniture supply store or appliance store.
You can usually find a good "backstop" box on your way to the range if you don't have one laying around.
Those hours are ridiculous for the working man/woman.
But, I suppose that will only get worse with funds drying up for the state.
Have fun and stay safe.
