Default HK G3 kit build ?

I know NOTHING about these rifles. I am asking just because I want to know.

I see a HK G3 kit on this site for 299.95
    http://www.angelfire.com/tx4/guncollecter/kit2.html
and a reciever for 79.99 here
    http://www.centerfiresystems.com/hkg...thk-1-001.aspx

is this all you would need to assemble a rifle?

    what would that take?

Not quite, the 'receiver' you linked to, is the grip and trigger pack. Not the receiver. There is quite a bit to do for one of those. In addition to assembling them, you also have to comply with federal regs concerning US made parts. Known as 922R parts. You also must make modifications to prevent selective fire parts from being installed. Check out weaponeer.net for more info.

Buck Mulligan it for you to assemble a parts kit and receiver into a gun you would need to bend the receiver in a rather precise manner. Then line everything up properly and weld it all together. Not a beginner build buy any means.

    Cheers!

G3 rcvrs are folded, spot-welded, and pressed onto the barrels - not an easy homebuild even for the 100% recvrs available for sale.

With the folding, welding, etc. it's more akin to building an AK receiver than it is to assembling an AR receiver.

There are receiver flats available. You do have to be able to fold them double, line them up and weld them. You miss a couple of finishing steps from the factory, but it will work. It is not an especially easy build, but it is doable, IF you take your time. Flats used to be about $70. I don't know what they are now. G3s and CETMEs use a roller delayed blowback action that operated differently from other locking methods. If you decide to undertake this type of project, you really really really need to understand how it operates in order to properly set it up and not create a hazard.

what you are looking at for $79 is the trigger group. this will be included with the parts kit. you will need a receiver, which were going for $250 last year, if you could find them. you will also need a trunion for $50, and the knowledge to set and headspace the barrel, and weld the trunion to the receiver.

when i researched this, most reputable builders wanted $4-500 to do the above. it would be cheaper o buy a PTR-91 for $12-1300, and it would be factory assembled and warranteed.

Hi. I don't receive promotional consideration, but one of the well-known builders is Arizona Response Systems. The owner, "Gun Plumber" is reputed to be a curmudgeon, but he's supposed to be a fine builder. No personal experience of ARS's work. My two cents' worth.

The big deal about the G3/HK91 is: it's rock-solid, German-engineered, powerful, and mags are SUPER-cheap ($2 ea.) along with mag pouches, etc.

Good luck with your quest re: the HK-91.
