Default What to Do When Pulled Over

I'm curious to know what everyone does if they ever get pulled over while carrying concealed. But, My main question is, "Is PA one of the states that you Must inform the officer right away?" I've had this argument with my brother and I believe that pa is not one of the states that you must inform the police that you are carrying. I think Illinios is one of those states but not sure. I am also curious about Texas since I visit often. Also, oppinions are great But FACTS are better! and where you all found the facts would be nice too. I know that if the police ask if you have any weapons you need to tell them the truth. If you dont understand just ask and i will try to explain better. but i'm prety sure i worded everything correctly.

    No.

As for what you "should" do... that's a topic discussed regularly. If you do a search and you'll find a number of current threads on this very subject.

You have no duty to inform an officer you are carrying. You are not required to answer any questions that may be asked, but if you do, DON'T lie.

A search of the forum would have given you a faster answer, but since you asked, I'll say what I might do. I want to loud and clearly inform the officer: 1. I have a firearm, 2. I am a safe owner, and 3. follow it up with safe actions, not just words.

So as the officer comes up to the car, I will jump out of the car, with hands out, yelling, "I HAVE A GUN, AND i KNOW HOW TO USE IT!!!!!"

I'm sure I will get a positive response from the officer.

FYI, If you have a Pa LTCF it is not valid in Illinois.

Having lived in Illinois for close to twenty years, the only way I know to get an Illinois CCW is to sell a congress seat. LOL

I just do whatever the officer or trooper asks of me, whether it's step out of the vehicle or have a nice day.

A general rule of thumb I've formulated over years of experience is to never volunteer any information to anybody that has authority to put you in jail or issue you fines.

    Yes

    No

Repeat as much as possible. I sure don't want my firearm/lawyer/wallet involved in teaching some cop the law.

No, Youare by no means required to inform the LEO that youa re armed. But in the times that I have been stopped I have been asked to exit the vehilce once. That time I did inform. I don't want to surprise anybody on the other end of the badge. Its a personal choice mind you, again no need to inform.

What? Illinois? You can have firearms there? WOW!! didn't know the People's Republic allowed personal ownership of firearms. LOL

Anyway, as per other states, Texas you must declare the CCW and the same with Colorado. Those two are Must declare states I know for sure...

IMHO, I think it would serve you better to first say, "I have a License to Carry and I am currently carrying a firearm on my right hip."

Personally I wouldn't tell the officer unless he asked me to step out of my vehicle.
