    Default Barrel threading?

I was considering getting a suppressor for a rifle . This would be my first NFA item. Can a smith just simply machine/thread the end of a barrel to accept such item? If so, anyone in particular I should use?

Yes, any competent gunsmith WITH a lathe can do the work. It can be done with dies as well, but a lathe job is cleaner and more refined. If its a carbon steel barrel, you'll probably want the threading and machined area blued to help protect it from rust.

A good machine shop can do it too if you remove the barrel(would require re-headspacing then after).

Hopefully someone else can supply you with a smith or machinist in your area.

I had a marlin 25n barrel threaded by Pa. Patriot and he seems to be in your neighborhood. Might want to give him a jingle.

If you do the work yourself just make sure that the thread job is concentric to the bore and not the outside of the barrel otherwise you may suffer baffle strikes.
