    Default Good holster for OC?

Just wanted to get some feedback on this holster. I don't OC currently but if/when I do just wondering whether I can stick with this or should I get a different one. Thanks.

that's a nice looking piece of leather; yeah, it should be good. you want retention for an OC holster. 2 questions: who makes it, and how's that SR9 shoot?

Galco makes it, I ordered it off the Ruger website. Not a bad price either in my opinion. I love shooting it, comfortable and easy to shoot. Just wish the grips were as comfy as my M&P's though.

I like that it has a visible retention strap. The recent OC publicity suggests to me that most people aren't familiar with the concept of internal retention devices. This is good if someone plans to grab your gun (what they don't know about they can't disable) but bad for making people feel safe around you as you OC.

I have the same design from DeSantis for one of my carry pieces. I like it, with the exception of the thumb snap giving me some grief from time to time, getting it resnapped while on my side. It's not a defect or anything, just a problem that I have being fumble fingered. But the holster itself rides nice and tight, so I can use it for CC as well. In fact, if I am going out and may be OC or CC both in the same outing, this is the holster I choose.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Just thought I would get some insight from people with more experience than myself. I have problems resnapping it sometimes too. But I really do like the holster, rides nice and tight. Thanks again.

    *bold is mine

I really got a good chuckle from that "Fumble fingered"...LMFAO I have the same problem with one of my holsters, but I assumed it was because of the fat roll the snap sits against, not my "fumble fingers"...LOLOLOLOLOL

Psssst, this was as close to rep as I could get cause my rep button is broken again......

It's clear that you don't need a retention device on an OC holster. Not one person on this board can provide one documented case of an OCer having his/her weapon stripped of them.

I have the Glaco 3 slot holster for OC and LOVE IT... I had the same problem with the thumb break snap... what I did was dampen it with a rag, put the gun in it ( EMPTY of course ) and let it dry overnight.... seemed to help "stretch" the leather there and now it works fine....

    Good luck
