Ar 15 pistol length to carry with a LTCF?
Looking to build a AR15 pistol to carry. My ? is doe's the pistol have to be oal less then 26 inches to carry? If so do you measure the flash hider to the end of the pistol buffer tube or the length of the pistol arm brace when fully extended?
Thank you!

(a) Firearm
The term “firearm” means (1) a shotgun having a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length; (2) a weapon made from a shotgun if such weapon as modified has an overall length of less than 26 inches or a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length; (3) a rifle having a barrel or barrels of less than 16 inches in length; (4) a weapon made from a rifle if such weapon as modified has an overall length of less than 26 inches or a barrel or barrels of less than 16 inches in length; (5) any other weapon, as defined in subsection (e); (6) a machinegun; (7) any silencer (as defined in section 921 of title 18, United States Code); and (8) a destructive device. The term “firearm” shall not include an antique firearm or any device (other than a machinegun or destructive device) which, although designed as a weapon, the Secretary finds by reason of the date of its manufacture, value, design, and other characteristics is primarily a collector’s item and is not likely to be used as a weapon.

An AR pistol is not made from a rifle.

Re: Ar 15 pistol length to carry with a LTCF?
An AR-15 pistol is a stupid thing to use as an every day carry gun.
I know, I built two.
Yes it is a "pistol", but there is not a holster that works for carrying it.
And unless you are a WWF / Mr Universe contender, its a bitch to shoot accurately without using the arm brace up against your shoulder
For carry, you just need a sling.
Once that happens, you are target #1 for any LEO with any kind of an issue, and you WILL be the recipient of a lot of 911 calls about MWAG.
That is not a recipe for happiness.
It's the kind of tool used by attention whores.American by BIRTH, Infidel by CHOICE

AR15' pistols are great range toys but a poor choice for concealed or open carry. I own one and wouldn't consider carrying it for any reason. You're just going to draw a lot of unwanted attention to yourself and maybe get seriously injured or killed by some overzealous cop. Buy or build one for HD or a range toy but reconsider a AR15 pistol for carry purposes.

Re: Ar 15 pistol length to carry with a LTCF?
Im currently in the process of receiving parts to build a pistol as a trunk gun that i can leave load at times. My research found 10.5 barrel should come under 26 inch mark, but i have not proven this and different muzzle accessories or forearm brace may put you over the the 26 mark

I disagree with some of your comments. While I personally wouldn't carry my AR pistol with me...I'd have one in my vehicle loaded since PA does not allow loaded rifles in vehicles.
You don't need a brace in AR pistol, but they are a nice addition if one wants to make the purchase.

Re: Ar 15 pistol length to carry with a LTCF?
How do braces affect overall length measurements?
Some are adjustable for length of pull.
Hmmmmm...

Re: Ar 15 pistol length to carry with a LTCF?
That's a damn good question
I'm just winging this here and my logic may be flawed (who knows with ATF). Since a removable muzzle device does not count towards the overall length I'm going to GUESS that the brace should not either. (But then again a collapsible stock is easily removed and is supposed to measured in the OPEN position.) ? Stupid f'in rules"It seems that the Constitution is more or less guidelines than actual rules"
