AR45: my build
Here's something I'd like show you all that are interested in pistol caliber ARs. An AR in .45 acp was something I've wanted for quite a while now. There weren't many kits out there to choose from and the ones that were around were expensive and had some functionality issues. Then I found out about Macon Armory and ordered a kit.
I opted for the blowback operated kit w/ 5.5" barrel and planned on building it into a pistol. Later, I'll SBR it. Their kit came with a complete upper with keymod rail, magazine adapter block, heavy buffer (10 ounce!), two 20 rd magazines, and a mag loader. Macon Armory fabricates their own mags, which I'm not too crazy about (proprietary) but they're beefy and work perfectly.
So it functions flawlessly. It's not as quiet with my suppressor (AAC TiRant45) as I'd like it to be due to the blowback action...the bolt closing, nay clacking, after it fires is the loudest part.

Re: AR45: my build
Nice build, congrats. I wanted an AR 45 "just because" but ended up buying a TNW in 45 instead. I finally bought an AR in 9 mm last year, maybe time for a 45 now - thanks a lot - lol. Enjoy !

Nice build.
Are you happy with the Opmod optic?
I have not used them, would be curious of your opinion re durability and general function. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?

Re: AR45: my build
I think they're very similar in design. Difference being the grease gun mags have an extra layer of sheet metal where they insert into the well. I presume that they not only had a mag catch hole but also made it sturdy enough to use it as a grip. Although, I haven't touched M3 mags since I was a unit armorer in '90 (yes, my unit had two M3 grease guns for the M88 crew).
