Toomey ads push expanded background checks on gun sales

Republican U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey is returning to Pennsylvania's airwaves for the first time since last summer, advancing a pro-law enforcement and pro-gun control message as Democrats step up attacks on him. The ads, starting Tuesday, tout Toomey's support for undoing Obama administration restrictions on police access to U.S. military gear and Toomey's push to expand background checks on firearms purchases. Toomey's re-election bid is expected to be expensive and hotly contested, and the seat in closely divided Pennsylvania is viewed as crucial to control of the Senate.

It's been confirmed that PA will be one of the main Dem targets this year as a must win for them. Add to that the fact that PA has one million more registered Dems so you absolutists are living in a dream world if you think the Lounge view would even come close to winning dog catcher.

There are a heck of a lot of dem gun owners in PA.....as though Toomey changing his stance on this one issue will get the city dwellers to vote for him. The GOP really is the party of stupid.

Leaving aside the broad generalizing, elections are usually won by the 15-20% swing voters. In PA I suspect the swings are more but either way this is politics 101. Agree or not.

I got a nickel says that Sestak is gonna destroy Toomey this election. In their rush to pander to the left, the Rep candidate will lose significant base support, and the Dems will vote Dem, like they always do, leaving Sestak with the win. Will anyone be surprised? Last time, Toomey at least pretended to talk pro-gun. This time, despite every poll showing the nation leaning pro-gun, Toomey is blatantly anti-gun! Does he really think he will win more Dems to his cause than Reps that he is losing?
