Default Went to Philly yesterday and "gulp" OC'ed

So the other half took her citizenship exam yesterday, and passed without flaw I knew we were going to a DOHS building, but I was not going to Philly sans pistol. I brought my lock-box and after parking across the street in a parking structure, locked it up, keeping my empty holster. FYI, anyone going to 1600 Callowhill will be required to remove your belt before going through the metal detector. The feds were very cool and we joked about the incident I avoided by locking the weapon up before going. After all was finished at DOHS, we returned to the car and I rearmed. We then took a stroll around the area. Not a stray glance for more than an hour. Having our fill of sightseeing, we headed back toward home. We stopped in to my new favorite diner, the Arlington on 611 in Stroudsburg. As we walked in, she tells me to cover "that thing" up. I told her I have OC'ed here on more than one occasion and it would be fine. After getting seated, our waitress takes our drink orders and asks me if I'm a cop or something. "No ma'am", I reply.
"Is that for work or something?", she asks.
    "No ma'am", I reply.
"So, you just strap a pistol on your belt and go about your business just for the hell of it?", she asks, not in an incredulous way, just curious.
"Yes, ma'am I absolutely do. Everywhere I go, except jersey and certain restricted places, I sure do.", I tell her with a big grin as my wife sighs and rolls her eyes.
The waitress suddenly gets an annoyed look on her face and says," Can you please stop doing that.".
"Doing what, ma'am?", I ask, knowing where this is going from experience, as my wife gets that "I am so going to punch you in the face, because I told you this would turn into an incident" look on her face.
"Calling me ma'am. Do I look like a "ma'am" to you? I may not be 21 anymore, but I hardly think I am in "ma'am" territory!", she says, dead serious.
"Sorry, too many years in the service, hun. I mean no disrespect, it's just the opposite in fact, and a hard habit to break. I am well aware that you are not in "that territory". In fact,..", I say, leaning a bit closer to her," If the new citizen over there, wasn't here, I might be getting in trouble for flirting with you....". The last bit delivered with my most innocent grin and much batting of eyelashes.
Blushing, she playfully slaps at me and giggles,"Oh my! Well if it is from the service then we will let it slide..".
The other half kicks me square in the shin under the table and says,"If you two are done, I'd really love my water....".

Service was great and we had a lovely lunch, before we headed over to drop her LTCF app. off.

Sounds like a great day all around! Funny the only cooment that arose was back on your "home turf". I could only wish it was a sign of the times, but I know better.

Please relay congrats to the wife!

    Be safe (and American!).

    Good for you.

I'm glad I'm not the only one "nuts" enough to have OC'd in Phila.

Welcome to the OC Mafia - you've been officially "made"

Great (and amusing) story headcase! I wonder at WHAT age women do feel comfortable with ma'am? Never, maybe for some

Loved that line: "The other half kicks me square in the shin under the table and says,"If you two are done, I'd really love my water....".

Maybe you can get the waitress interested in carrying, since she was curious???
