Yes, that's the way it works for all types of NFA firearms. How about spending many thousands of dollars on a machine gun and have to wait four to six months for approval.

Sounds awfully complicated. I don't get buying a suppressor first if i don't have an approval - thats what a gun shop employee told me - and its in limbo there until you can pick it up with the approval. The gun shop's point of view, if you don't pay for it and then flake out after submitting the paperwork, they're kinda stuck in a bad situation.

I dont expect a shop to fork out the $ to order one especially when people can be pretty unreliable - I just figured that once you are approved - then its time to go shopping!

Just1 the next time you are up in State College hit me up, I've got a few pistol suppressors I can show you. I don't have a M&P9 but I've got a few others that may be of interest.

Does seem pretty stupid that you have to even go through the NFA process for suppressors but then again the whole NFA process seems rather stupid to me...

Approval is tied with a specific item with a specific serial number. It has to be put on the paperwork that is submitted to the ATF.

Yes I now understand the process a little better. Unfortunate to live in Allegheny county it seems as signatures might be impossible to come by and if I have to spend $ on a lawyer also, it will not happen for a long time, if at all sadly.

Forming an LLC in PA is easy and low cost with no annual fee or tax.
