"flare Gun"
This may have been asked before but I was wondering...when you travel to places like NY or NJ and stay overnight in a motel, obviously you cannot take your carry weapon..but what's the deal if you have a flare gun in the car & in the room with you...isn't it considered a "signal device" and it's better than nothing for self-defense..can anyone advise?

Re: "flare Gun"
Not sure about that one, but you might want to check the laws in NY and NJ on that because everything else is illegal in those states.............

Re: "flare Gun"
Heck, any place that requires you to register a BB-gun is suspect for even carrying a drawing or photo of a gun IMHO. (NJ, I believe)

Re: "flare Gun"
flare guns are useless for self defense, the round has no real harmful velocity at close ranges, and the flare itself will merely start a fire.
plus, flares just bounce off a leather jacket.
also, use of a flare gun with real antipersonnel ammo will reult in serious personal injury to yourself, and possible charges for a unregistered NFA device, as a flare gun is a smoothbore pistol(thus an AOW if used with "real" ammo)
better idea is get some serious pepper spray, such as the kind for bear, that has a 30 foot spray, from UDAP.

I doubt a flare gun will do much for you.

Combining a flare gun with an alcohol based OC spray will make pretty colors..........

Re: "flare Gun"
Carry a Bic lighter and a can of WD-40. Shoots a flame about 20 feet and sets everything it touches on fire.
It may not kill the attacker, but you'll still see his glare in the sky for two blocks.
