Wolf calling for more gun control
Here we go again!
"A bill already introduced in the Legislature's new session would expand background checks on firearms in Pennsylvania and end an exception for private sales of shotguns, sporting rifles and semi-automatic rifles, known as the "gun show" loophole.
Other bills expected to be introduced would ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacity. Another would create an "extreme risk protection order" that allows a law enforcement officer, a family member or a household member to petition a judge to order the immediate, if temporary, seizure of someone's firearms."
"House Majority Leader Bryan Cutler, R-Lancaster, said Tuesday that Pennsylvania already has fairly comprehensive background checks and that the vast majority of gun crimes are committed by someone who bought the firearm illegally in the first place.
Speaking at the Pennsylvania Press Club luncheon, Cutler also said some of the atrocities that have occurred in other states wouldn't have happened in Pennsylvania. A background check would have flagged something, such as the killer's mental health history or a domestic violence restraining order, Cutler said.
But, he said, he suggested agreement between Wolf and lawmakers can be found on the issue of mental health interventions and reaching people much sooner.
"So I think it's important to focus on what would produce real results and also focus on those things that I think could find solutions," Cutler said."

Re: Wolf calling for more gun control
We got to keep pressure on the legislature. The Pittsburgh Shooting gave the antis a boost in addition to the recent anti gun bill they passed.

Re: Wolf calling for more gun control
Heard him this morning talking about the gun show loophole. Yelled at my TV. Anyone who says that made-up term loses all credibility immediately.

I would like to see Governor Chromedome show us an official document or piece of literature describing this "gunshow loophole" of theirs.

Re: Wolf calling for more gun control
There are two sides to the transaction, Buyer and seller. Buyer may be wanting to buy from another PA resident, but if the law is enacted, seller may feel constrained. That alone would reduce the number of opportunities to buy the old established way.
Today's fishwrapper account said that last year it came within one vote of not languishing in committee.
One thing that pisses me off...I have NEVER seen or heard a report that fully explains the "gun show loophole"...that being, it is a play on words deliberately devised to deceive the public. Face-to-face transfer of long arms, PA resident to PA resident can happen anywhere in PA- in homes, on parking lots, in convention halls, in gun show halls, while dealers in arms operating from tables that form the show, may not and do not sell without background checks.
Just once, I'd like to see that full description given to the public. MFers. There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Re: Wolf calling for more gun control
If some gun show loophole existed in PA, why are felons being escorted from every Oaks show in handcuffs? Security theater?

"Military Grade firearms". WTF is that? The Media perpetuates this crap. If it wasn't for the media constantly repeating that stuff it wouldn't get the traction it does. An semi auto firearm is now a weapon of mass destruction. These people are nuts, yet they repeat it enough to convince the Sheeple. Excuse me the Alpacaeeple.
