Can anyone recommend an outfit that teaches tactical pistol or rifle courses in the Pittsburgh or Johnstown areas? I'm also very interested in these 3 gun matches I read about if anyone knows of any.

Three gun matches are a different story, but it you want good training

I don't know what "Tactical" training is but they do have good training. (and classes called Tactics 1 and 2)
I plan on taking handgun 101 with Randy Cain
Thanks for the link.
To clarify, I'm looking for home defense and self defense outside of the home. Instruction on increasing accuracy and also drawing and holstering.
Here are a few pics of the basic carbine class: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tomkell...7624126290738/

Man, I wish their prices were a little more "college student budget" friendly
Outside instructors dictate their costs, and top of the line guys like Randy Cain arent cheap, for good reason. But courses taught "in house" like that Basic Tactical Carbine are well under market price.
You will find if you look what the market price is for quality training with reputable teachers.
of course, one could always ask "How much is your life worth? Or the lives of those you love?" I say $300-500 and a long weekend is more than reasonable.
i share your pain regarding the cost of training.
just realize, though, that FIRE institute prices are very, very competitive in the marketplace. the courses they put on themselves are actually downright cheap compared to most training. when they bring in outside instructors, they have less control over the pricing, but their pricing for those courses is still quite good compared to a lot of places.
Good demo of how to draw: http://forum.pafoa.org/general-2/758...pa-page-3.html
Get to a POOFA group shoot at PMSC (http://www.pmsconline.com/calendar_e...2010/poofa.htm. Every 2nd Sunday of the month. Keep an eye in the Shoots and Range Trips forum (http://forum.pafoa.org/shoots-range-trips-113/) for details.
Go to IPSC/USPSA practices. It WONT teach you about self defense situations, but it will teach you about safely handling a firearm, target acquisition and shooting on the move.
Not all the training we need to do is practical... there's mental preparation as well.
Consider the NRA self defence in/outside of the home courses. These are not live fire courses, but will cover other issues such as planning (making sure everyone in the family/building knows what to do when the SHTF).
Look at the FIRE Institutes "Laws Governing the Use of Deadly Force in PA" and "PA Firearms Laws" courses.
Save up for a handgun/tactics course.
