Luzerne County Shoot II
We will be having another shoot in the strip mines. Saturday, October 20. We will meet around 11 am off I-80. Exit 273, White Haven/Freeland. If you are traveling From the west. Get off exit, go right about 1/4 mile up on the left. There is a parking area there we will meet. Do not park at the first parking area. It has been marked "no parking". Go up the road a bit more and you will see the parking area there. If traveling from the east. Get off exit, go left. Proceed to parking area. We will try to keep a more organized list this time so no one is left behind. Lat time we were not 100% sure who was going to attend. It is another 10 minutes or so from the meeting area to where we will be shooting. The roads going into the minning area are a bit rough so truck or SUV is best. If I left anything out and you were at the last shoot feel free to jump in and add input.

Re: Luzerne County Shoot II
Definately need a truck of some sort, but 4x4 wouldn't be necessary unless it was snowing.
You are certainly in the middle of nowhere, so bring water/food/whatever, because there is nothing around for quite a distance.
This time I'm going to try to find the 400 and possibly 800 yard area.

Re: Luzerne County Shoot II
I'm in. I guess that I'll have to start saving up my ammo.
Roughly how far away is this from Jim Thorpe and/or Carbon County?Last edited by itstock; September 30th, 2007 at 04:38 PM.

I may have to see if I can make this too... Is this invite only or do you mind if a newbie brings some toys out to shoot?

Re: Luzerne County Shoot II
Basically an open invite. Just a opportunity to meet and shoot with the people associated with this board.
itstock, do a map search for Eckley Minning Village. It is close to the shoot area. That should give you a idea how far from Jim Thorpe you are.

Re: Luzerne County Shoot II
well this is my first post here,.. i have been trying to get a few guys together for other boards to have a shoot somewhere less restrictive than most of the local gun clubs,.. the local coal pit is pretty much taken over by the hunting crowd to get ready for when the season opens,..so good day of shooting at the range is hard to come by untill rifle season is finished.
from the pictures and from what everyone is saying your place sounds perfect, and i would love to attend,. and i think there could be about a dozen or so other guys from two diffrent boards that would be interested as well.
i am not sure if i can post links to other site here (i kinda skipped reading that part) but i can email you the links to those two fourms if you would like.
So 20 OCT 07 @ 11am is definatly the next time?
ETA:,.. i just looked at a map online,.. that place IS pretty close,.. i better get my ammo in order.Last edited by cruzie27; October 4th, 2007 at 10:48 PM.

Re: Luzerne County Shoot II
I would like to see a good turn out but I guess we have to keep an eye on the amount of vehicles going in. There is alot of room to park but I don't know if a whole convoy going in would raise a red flag.

Re: Luzerne County Shoot II
Or better yet, is there an official list?
I would hate to drive up there and be the only one to do so. Wait a second, actually, I don't care either way! I'm picking up a couple thousand rounds of ammo this weekend regardless.

Re: Luzerne County Shoot II
I'm going. I'll wear rain gear, cold weather gear, whatever.
I luckily don't need to spend money on ammo, but I only have like 19 BMG rounds.
And if no one shows up, I have the exact path I took recorded with a GPS unit, so I'll have no problems making it to the same spot.
