SPORTSMAN'S VS CC Permit

This is my first post - thanks for letting me in.

My Sportsman's Permit expired and I'm considering applying for a CC. What are the pros and cons of the Sportsman's vs CC permits?

My use is limited to outdoor activity - hunting and hiking.

Well... since you claim to use it for "hiking" a Sportsman's License doesn't offer any protection. It only is for hunting, fishing, training dogs and trapping when participating in such activities and when properly licensed to do so.

No cons to the LTCF.

I agree, I don't see any down side to getting the permit issued on the grounds that it is for personal defense.

Is the sportsman's permit still issued on a yearly basis?

If so, the upside to the LTCF is 5 year renewals.

With an LTCF you can do everything that the Sportsman's will allow you to do plus. The sportsmans is very limited (see above threads). Don't carry concealed while hiking with a Sportsman's, you're breaking the law. You can open carry while hiking (depending where you are hiking, IIRC there are places that you cannot carry at all).
