Re: SBR $200 fee?
SotR is correct, the tax is on any transfer to a new owner, or on the making of the SBR if you do it yourself. It is not a recurring fee.
ETA: Read the stickies. They are full of good info.Last edited by Deadpan; May 11th, 2010 at 03:35 PM. Reason: Thread moved

Re: SBR $200 fee?
Yep, only a one time fee.
This goes for any NFA item. SBR, SBS, suppressor, machine gun, AOW($5)
Only thing that is a yearly or reaccuring fee is a FFL/SOT license.

Re: SBR $200 fee?
One time fee if you keep it. If you sell the weapon later on you will have to pay the fee again. I found out the hard way after selling my UMP 45 and not adding on the 200 for the buyer to pay

Re: SBR $200 fee?
Actually and technically - and I'm only 99.9999% positive as I'm sure some PAFAOn lawyer will jump all over this - but the SELLER "pays" the NFA tax in a F4 xfer.
It's just that in 110% of the cases, the buyer cuts the $200.00 check to the treasury, or, simply pays the appropriately adjusted price when they hand over the completed F4, fingerprint cards, and $200.00.All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.

Re: SBR $200 fee?
In state sale, buyer pays tax. out of state sale is taxed twice. one to transfer to the dealer in said state then from dealer to buyer. for MG the seller more than likley pays the first tax but you can always work out a deal. this is why you dont see many used cans for sale. the tax is a deal breaker for out of state sales..
