    Default My first carry

    Well, it happened!

I applied for my license on February 23rd. I was approved on April 19th, and I went up today and had my photograph taken and I signed my LTCF. It was issued to me, and... yes! It's mine.

I ordered a Crossbreed Supertuck, and I received it weeks ago. My carry weapon is a SIG-Sauer P229r, chambered in 9mm. My magazine of choice is by Mec-Gar, the OEM manufacturer for SIG pistol magazines. This after market magazine, though, holds 15 rounds (versus 13 in the stock magazine).

    I did a few things.

I headed down to the Wawa on Columbus blvd in South Philadelphia. I sold a camera, there, to a guy from Craigslist. Then I headed over to Walmart to pick up some groceries, and finally stopped at the McDonald's there at the entrance to the Walmart.

I was surprised how well it concealed. I wore jeans and a button up shirt. The shirt was a size XL, and I am about 245 lbs, so it is not baggy at all. I didn't have to 'do' anything to the holster. I slapped on the Supertuck at 9 o'clock with a neutral, upright cant. I took off my light jacket and shopped freely, being certain to not 'cover' or 'guard' my strong side at all. I did my best to walk naturally, and I am pretty confident that I never got a second glance. Feels good.

Thanks for all of the information you have supplied me with, as an online community. I never would have taken this step without PAFOA.

Congratulations. I have found that having a sidearm always available is a comfort as well as a great responsibility. I hope you prepare to carry both via training and reflection as you need to be physically and mentally prepared if you ever need to use your sidearm.

It took them 55 days to approve you? They are limited to 45 days, by state law, to approve or deny your LTCF.

That's 55 days. Are you filing a complaint with the Philly DA?

    Yes.

Well, my first step was going to be with the Gun Permits and Tracking Unit of the PPD. I was planning on opening a channel of discussion (as much as one might exist, with such an anti-gun establishment) with them, first. But I will begin drafting something for the DA, also.

Glad to hear it. One complaint won't make much of a difference (probably), now if only the thousands of Philly residents that got an LTCF each year filed complaints and demanded change, then it would have an effect.

Most people (clearly not you) are just too damn lazy to do anything about it.

In my basement with lots of porn? That won't accomplish much.

Well you could always walk to the nearest adult store to add some more material to your stock. You'll probably be certain to get some looks that way.
