    Default OUch....

Took a friend out plinking in the woods near my house, and stopped at WalMart beforehand for some ammo. Took a look at winchester whitebox .357mag... $25!

OUch. ended up shooting with .38sp +p's instead. ($15 a box)

Any better values out there for good plinking and just in general 357mag JHP ammo?

no need to plink w/ JHP's, get yourself some FMJ's for plinking

Anything with "mag" in the name is going to cost considerably more. I know alot of guys that reload .357's because of the cost.

I just shoot .38's at paper and .357's at deer.

    Good luck.

Yeah, but I like to keep ammo on hand for plinking and just in case... so just keeping JHP keeps me with a good supply for either.

F' walmart - support your local gun shop! Try Johnson's in Dunningsville/84 on Rt. 136. Or Tom's in Charleroi. Both are very reputable and very nice people to deal with.

Some shops sell remanufactured ammo. This is commercially reloaded ammunition. Usually once fired brass, etc. Works just as good, esp. for plinking.

For even more savings - get a reloading setup.

You mean there is .357 that is not "Magnum" yet fits in a smith wesson or similar gun not talking about .357 Sig here, but the same round as .38 with the added 1/8 inch to it.

Personally, I buy 38 and 38+P and only use the .357 Mag when I demonstrate to some one how it feels to shoot.

BA, if I was at either of those places buying a vacuum cleaner, I would of been happy to go there

Just happened to be there with my wife, and for the 2 minute drive, its hard to beat the price on their 12ga boxes.

I'll pop those other ones into my GPS and check them out though.
