Remington and Sons "New Model" Help???!
I was given this as a gift from my grandfather who passed away a few years ago, i have no idea what this EXACTLY is (Model name, worth, etc).
The top of the barrel reads:
Patented Sept. 14 1858. March 17 18**(cant read last 2 numbers because they go into the body) E. Remington & Sons 1 Lion, New York U.S. NEW MODEL
The Pics are attached.
Any help would be great, i was unable to find anything on the net about this.
Thanks,
adam

Re: Remington and Sons "New Model" Help???!
Looks to me to be a Remington 1863 Pocket, 3rd model/generation which means its made of all steel. I think this might be chambered in .32 Rimfire but im not sure. Quite an interesting piece.
Dont Forget To Give Me Some Good Rep! Thanks!

Try taking a peek through the Collector's Firearms site and see if it helps you with the information you're looking for.
I do know that they were manufactured in Ilion, (eye-ell-eye-oh-en) NY.Last edited by Don T.; April 20th, 2010 at 09:28 AM.
