Default Potentially bad situation (not me)

Say you are out on your motorcycle. You get off the highway and while sitting on the off ramp, a car pulls up in front of you and a man gets out with a gun pulled-

No uniform. No badge. No marked car. No lights. No sirens. Nothing to indicate you were being stopped by a LEO. A car cuts you off and a man with a gun gets out and approaches you. You are CC/OC. What would you think right off the bat?

Watch the video. Count the seconds before the guy identifies himself. Would you have drawn your sidearm before the ID was made? This could have been a very ugly situation.

    Here's the entire story- http://carlosmiller.com/2010/04/16/m...-cop-with-gun/

The wire tap charges are absurd. I hope this guy sues the shit out everyone involved and wins.

    Thoughts on the traffic stop?

Why did the officer pull a gun? There was no reason for him to draw his weapon. Oh and if I had seen him jump out and pull his weapon with no ID you bet I would duck for cover and draw. How the hell COULD you know? This cop needs a new line of work...forcibly thrust upon him.

I'm pretty sure I would have been diving off the bike, looking for cover while drawing. There was absolutely no indication this guy was a cop. Now if the cop sees a gun being drawn, he starts shooting. I, in turn, would be in fear of my life and return fire in self defense. Best case scenario would be no shots fired, but you would most likely face charges for drawing on a cop, even though you didn't know he was a cop at the time. Next thing you know, the motorcycle rider is arrested and dubbed a "cop killer", all because the cop used poor judgement. Truly a no win situation for all involved.

There was a marked cruiser pulling in right behind the motorcycle rider.

I'm guessing that we can't know everything from a 30sec clip... possibly the biker was chased for a while and was probably pretty sure why he was being stopped.

    Who knows... not enough info.

There is no reason for that officer to be drawing his weapon, simply because there is no threat. If that was me on the bike I would have been concerned. Let’s see…. drawn firearm, no badge, in plain clothing, demanding you to get off the motorcycle. Then he claims to be state police. Yeah if I was not cc, the 5 speeds would have been definitely opened up, for a second time!

The rider admits to passing the marked car but claims to have never heard sirens or seen lights from either car. At one point, he looked back and saw only the unmarked car with no lights or siren, he didn't see the marked car at that point.

I would like to see the entire video.

is the cops finger on the trigger? it looks like it to me. I wonder if he was a member of Domelights?? Maybe he should of proned him out and get the paid vacation. I ride and if that happened to me I would have took off. Of course than I would have been running from the police and treated worse than Ray Ray in cell block 9.
