Advice to visitor to Duquesne U
Greetings Keystone Staters,
I am a CHL licenseee in Texas and Pennsylvania recognizes my license to carry as part of a reciprocal agreement.
I will be attending a conference at Duquesne University this summer.
I read on this forum that last year Duquesne adopted draconian anti-firearm rules for both students and visitors.
I don't even necessarily wish to CARRY while on campus but I certainly do not intend to surrender the weapon to Duquesne during my visit nor leave it in a distant parking garage.
I guess I'm asking - do I have any reasonable option other than simply staying at a hotel instead of on campus (much more expensive of course.)

Re: Advice to visitor to Duquesne U
Given that Duquesne has an expressed prohibition against firearms:
The use, possession, or display of firearms or other weapons by students, employees (other than by a law enforcement officer in the course of his/her duty) or visitors while on campus is not permitted. This includes those with legal permits. Non uniformed law enforcement personnel must advise the University Police of their presence on campus or anticipated presence as soon as possible.
you don't have much choice while on their property.
There is no state or Federal firearm laws that prohibit possession on a college campus BUT, if discovered, you are subject at worst to prosecution under the trespass statute (18 Pa CSA 3503) which would be a summary offense ($300 and/or 90 days).
There are no legal options available to you to keep the firearm with you while on campus - either on person or in housing.IANAL
