any USPSA practical pistol shooters?
Just wondering if anyone here shoots practical pistol in Erie? If so, where at, what division, and what's your weapon of choice?

Re: any USPSA practical pistol shooters?
I shot Limited and L-10 at Eagles Nest a couple times. Nice club. So is Gem City.
I'm currently shooting a STI Edge and a Glock 35....

I taught Chuck Norris to bump-fire.

Re: any USPSA practical pistol shooters?
I shot Gem City's "Toys for Tots" match the last couple years. I used to go north to Gem, City and Eagles nest more often, but life has gotten busy.
For Limited, I shoot my Para P-16 most often.
I used to shoot my S&W 610 in revolver, but it hasn't been used in IPSC in a couple years.Last edited by richbug; April 14th, 2010 at 02:34 PM. Reason: spelling

Only in the winter for the indoor matches, interferes with matches down here the rest of the season. Have used both a
Mod 19 for revolver and a CZ75 for production more recently.

Gem City has a pretty active group. http://www.gemcitygunclub.org/
Eagles Nest still shoots, but I believe they have dropped their USPSA affiliation, so your scores won't count.Chris

Re: any USPSA practical pistol shooters?
I'm a member at Gem City and was thinking about getting into competitions. Trying to make some decisions on guns and divisions. I was leaning toward production division, but took a financial blow last week. Looks like my plans might be put on hold for awhile.

Re: any USPSA practical pistol shooters?
I really can not comment on USPSA events at Gem City (I believe that I met the match director two weeks ago and he seemed very nice) but I will comment on on USPSA in general.
Last year was my first year shooting USPA in section 8. In general the local matches and most of the participants are very welcoming. For example at my first match I did not have enough magazines. After another shooter overheard this conversation, the offer was made to find someone to loan me a few. A few were offered and I was hooked.
IMOP you could show up at a local match with pretty much whatever you have and "run what ya brung".

Re: any USPSA practical pistol shooters?
That was going to be my advice. If you go by the book, at minimum, you need a holster which covers the trigger, and enough magazines or speedloaders to get through a stage(generally 30 rounds will do). Hearing protection, and eye protection are mandatory.
I can't speak for Gem City, but if you came to Pardoe, and didn't have enough mags we would find you some to use if possible, 1911 and Glock are easy to come by, P7M8 not so much. If mags aren't available, someone will likely volunteer to reload your empty one when you drop it. Same for a holster, you would likely be allowed to start with the gun in your hand if you didn't have a safe holster( I usually have a cheap Uncle Mike's holster that will fit most large autos in my bag). I have loaned out my guns(usually shotgun and rifle) more times than I can count when someone's isn't cooperating. This free pass would likely only happen once, and you would be expected to have the right equipment before the next match. This stuff doesn't appear in the rule book, and might be against some rule(lord knows there are too many), but IMHO, it is the right thing to do.
