Questions about firearm training
Iam very interseted in getting into a career in armed private security for VIP's or executives and things of that nature but i have no military or police background. First of all is this absolutely necessary to pursue a career in private security and if not does anyone know of anywhere local i could take classes to get firearms ratings for pistols shotguns and rifles?

Re: Questions about firearm training
To do so in PA (work armed security), the one thing that IS required is Act 235 Certification. Beyond that, you should check out the typical employment requirements for the types of companies you hope to work for.

+1
The limited openings in that type of field are usally filled with the surplus of ex military and ex police. . .
However, Craigslist does have a few posts up a week from people looking for Act 235 cert. workers. . . .
I'd call around a bit a see what the job market is like before investing big money into the training. . .
Be safe.

You could try the G. Gordon Liddy Academy of Corporate Security and Private Investigation.
For $2,700 (ammunition provided), the academy offers 17 days of classes covering everything from "Competitor Intelligence/Industrial Espionage" to "Electronic Eavesdropping (bugging-debugging)" to "Intrusion (Exit/Entry)." The general thrust of the training is not how to do these things unto others but how to stop them from being done unto you. Liddy has switched sides, from offender to defender.
