Need to detail strip and perform a complete cleaning of upper and lower.
Make sure you have properly lubricated the the slide rails. If the problem
does not clear up a new recoil spring could be the answer IMO.FUNDAMENTALS

Re: springfield 1911 a1 slow returning to battery
A good cleaning is in order but you never said what kind of ammunition you were firing. And if you were firing the same ammunition the last time you fired. Could be that. Just a thought.

Re: springfield 1911 a1 slow returning to battery
thanks for the advice guys
i gave it a good cleaning and lube and took it out and put about a box & halve of factory rounds thru it and it acted much better as far as the slide returning to battery. but a few times on the last round out of the mag. the shells would get caught lengthwise in the eject port
the mag is a wilson combat eight round but i've put 5-8 hund.rounds thru it
could it still be a recoil spring problem?
thanks again
