I'm not a father and the thought of that is much more than I can bear.

This is exactly why honest citizens need to be armed.....

Well, he’s got the drop on you. Then he has your son at gunpoint…

When do you shoot? Maybe after he puts the kid down and has his back to you, posing no immediate threat. What a frustrating situation to say the least.

He puts your kid down and has his back to you. You blow the bastard away for what he did. Emotional distress? Try to find a jury to convict you.

I'd hope you'd put up a fight to prevent him from grabbing the kid in the first place. At that point i'd probably be hands on with the guy. Blasting the guy after the fact doesn't really do anything to protect your child.

    Marc, I agree…

I definitely would have put up a fight. When I positioned myself between the Piece of Shit and my kid or as opportunity arose, I would have put one in his head or gutted him from top to bottom.

NOBODY F***S with my family with impunity! I will do whatever it takes to put myself between them and whatever danger!

I saw a bit of the security tape on WBRE last night and the POS had the gun on the father, not the kid, but the kid was right there. It did not look like it was described in the article; the kid was not being held. I think most of us would have had or made the opportunity to blast the bastard, but the kid’s father looked like the poster child for victim – more sheep than wolf.

My point is it’s easier to armchair quarterback and talk emotionally about what we would LIKE to do than it is to ACTUALLY do, when it is your kid in harms way.

My main concern IS the safety of the kid, secondarily the dispatch of that asshole. Like you said, “Blasting the guy after the fact doesn't really do anything to protect your child.”

My posture is neither sheep nor wolf, but shepherd. I do not believe anyone would get the chance to snatch my kids without taking me out first. But there I go armchair quarterbacking.

Agreed. This is the difference between us and the sheeple. These people don't think for one minute that anything can happen to them and their families when out in public; they are completely oblivious to their surroundings. OTOH, most of us here are always at Condition Yellow when out-and-about, constantly scanning the environment for anything which seems "not right".

I'm not blaming the father for what happened, but if this guy was more aware of what was going on around him, he might have at least realized that someone was acting or behaving suspicious, and been able to react accordingly.
