    Default Pittsburgh Zoo firearms policy?

Anyone been to the Pittsburgh Zoo lately and can tell me what their consensus is on Carrying? I've got a trip planned there on Thursday, and after checking their online "Zoo Manners" and Safety Guidelines, which is here:
    http://www.pittsburghzoo.com/PlanYourVisit/ZooManners

Now, it states nothing on Firearms on that page, but I have a feeling they indeed DO have a policy to protect everyone from the evils of firearms, and I'd rather not drive 2 hours to be asked to leave it in my car...in Pittsburgh...

I caught in a PAFOA search a thread discussing their unfriendliness towards carry, so that pretty much makes my question invalid, HOWEVER, I find it an appalling double standard to NOT want anyone to be able to protect themselves and to be adamantly against it, while not clearly posting it on informational documents that are there to help you plan your visit.

AND a further conundrum, apparently (from reading the postings in said thread) that there is NO firearms policy posted at the entrance either or a security checkpoint, anyone been there recently to see if metal detectors or xray specs have been installed? What're the chances I'll be made and forcibly removed from the property?
Man its one thing to suffer for your country, Its another to do so because of it...

My last visit was probably about 1.5yrs back now. I concealed carried and didn't see any obvious signs. No security check points, searches, etc. My sidearm stayed out of sight and no problems were had. I stick to the out of sight, out of mind mentality for alot of places, barring metal detectors or checkpoints, etc.

as of last summer, there were no signs, no security, etc.

i CC'd there without any problem.

if it is against their policy, it is an uncommunicated policy.

Agreed. I've carried there probably...20-30 times and never saw anything. I generally CC but don't make a big huff if it shows.

Guess I need to get my membership again for the kids, but I hear it's creeping up towards $100 now.

I, too, have carried there several times. It is not in a great area of Pittsburgh.

I just went there last month and CC'ed while there - no issues. No signs, nothing listed in rules, so no problem. until one of their employees does a Google search on the web and turns up this thread

My family and I our annual zoo members and I have cc'd there many times. I as well have never noticed any kind of signs or warnings stating any prohibitions. I'm a firm believer in keeping it concealed in places like that so as not to attract any unnecessaru attention.

As for them not mentioning anything about "guns", it's likely because they "know" that guns are "bad", and that if they even mention it, some like-minded (pea-brained) individuals may feel they may not be taking their families to a "safe" environment.

I mean, why would they even need to say "no guns" unless there was a problem with criminals bringing guns to the zoo? (end sarcasm)

    I've carried there as well.

Well, that was a fun trip! Got to watch the sharks feed, AND Primanti Bros. on the way home! CCed the whole day, not an issue, which I'm glad I decided to, she wanted to go through Butler and down Route 8....

We went to the zoo today. I wish I had my camera because the one "prohibitive" sign I did see, cracked me up...

For the safety of children and the well-being of all of our visitors and animals,
the Zoo prohibits the use of tobacco products while on Zoo grounds.
    Thank you for your cooperation

    LOL

By the way, you can get free admission to the zoo until Thurs, April 30, by bringing/donating a pair of (unscratched) prescription or reading glasses.

My wife had an old, unused pair, and since I couldn't locate my old pair, I stopped at Big Lots and picked up a pair of reading glasses for $2.00. It cost us more to buy a soda than it did for two admissions to the Zoo today. (Adult admission is normally $13.00)
