Default To draw, or not to draw...

    Hello all,
I am writting this thread because I would like to hear your feedback on a particular situation that took place in early February.

I was driving on Interstate 81 in the Scranton area when I was cut off by another vehicle, I honked and we exchanged middle fingers, he began throwing empty water bottles at me. None actually hit me; I called PSP and gave the vehicle info to the dispatcher. The dispatcher told me that a person whom he had cut off ealier in the commute had already called, and they were sending a car out. The but later as we were travelling I ended up next to him and he began to honk and let me know that I was "number 1" again. I ignored him because I didn't want to seem that I was provoking him if the police actually caught up with him. I think he got more upset because I was ignoring him, and began to swerve his car into mine. No contact was made, but I was running out of room to avoid him because there was a barrier on the right side of the Drinker St exit. My hand was on my pistol, but was having second thoughts about drawing and aiming. He ended up losing interest and drove past me.

Just curious if anyone out there would have handled differently.

    Do NOT draw!

Slow down and let him pass or get off at the next exit and sit for a few minutes.

Rule #1: Avoid the confrontation if there is any possible way to do so.

Also, anyone who actually considers drawing and firing (firing is the only reason you'd be drawing, right?) from a moving vehicle, towards a moving vehicle should reconsider their motive for carrying AND get some training - both on tactics, and the law.

    IMO.

Much appreciated. I do understand the laws, more importantly my morals, which is why I didn't draw. I wasn't the aggressor in this situation, but I did sincerely belive that he had intended to ram my vehicle to cause harm.

    Thank you.

The ONLY time it is appropriate to draw is when you have the full intent to fire your weapon as a last resort in defense of your life or someone else's life. That's it. Period. If you aren't sure whether you need to fire your weapon don't pull it.

I couldn't have said it better. The minute he tossed a water bottle, I would have taken the next exit with his plate number, and called the state boys then.

    Thank you for your responses.

Did give the plate # to PSP in Dunmore, not sure what, if anything, came about it.

You have no reason to even consider drawing your weapon for fear of your vehicles condition as you describe. As previously stated, you must avoid these asshats as much as physically possible and take the high road in life.

That's fair, but do you really think that killing him would have made the situation better?
