Glock guys....
How long can I expect the "copper" grease to last on my new pistol? Any thoughts?

Re: Glock guys....
If you don't scrub it off when cleaning, it should stay for a pretty long time. I cant say it's x amount of rounds because you could shoot 1k in one outing and the copper grease would probably still be there. But after a cleaning or 3, it is usually gone.
So, a lot depends on you. When i got new glocks, I usually shoot a couple hundred rounds and then clean them. Usually by the 3rd cleaning i wipe it all off. My understanding is it's just for break in.

Re: Glock guys....
I have about 600 through it now. Doing some rapid fire today I noticed that it started to break down a bit. The gun got a bit hot, but nothing crazy. I may run a few hundred more through it and wipe it off during a cleaning. Thanks

Re: Glock guys....
I naively cleaned it off my model 21 before I ever shot it. With my model 19 I put about 1500 rounds through the gun before I even thought about cleaning it. By then it was pretty much gone.

Re: Glock guys....
I think it is just copper anti-seize that helps in the "break-in" of the pistol

Re: Glock guys....
Mine did not come with much from Glock. It lasted through a couple hundred rounds and a good cleaning. I replaced it with a high pressure copper lube used in bushing installation. The original stuff is not "copper anti-seize"...

Re: Glock guys....
Don't tell Glock, but I removed the copper stuff on my G23 & 30 during the first cleaning, (about 100 rounds.) It got replaced with Militec-1 grease & they haven't seized up yet.
