Default Springer EMP / 1911 Takedown Problem

    Good day, all,

I have an EMP and love it. I've field stripped it many times without issue. I've used the "little plastic piece" to remove spring tension process. AND, I've taken it down without the little plastic piece.

Went to clean yesterday and the slide would not come off, no matter what. I don't want to force it. There's nothing forward the feed ramp that would "hold" it up so I think the block is above the mag well. I've removed the slide pin, put it back in, tried both methods multiple times and nothing. It appears to be hitting metal when I try to slide it off but I don't know enough about these guns to try anything.

I could do a spray clean but I sure like to get the slide off and fondle it a bit.

    Any thoughts?

did you remove the mag? safety off? hammer down? etc. I went to field strip a sig 226, and couldn't get the slide off, asked for help then felt like a dumbass cause i didn't remove the mag.

hi there, yep did all those things...... and, had a few mins so called Springfield.

Great called I talked with, immediately called tech support. She came back on and told me to send it in. They know what the issue is and the fix. Seems its a problem that "can" happen that they have a solution for. She did say I could get it off with a rubber mallet...... I think I'll let them hammer on it. I also have a couple of other tune-ups I'd like to do, so sad to say, my baby gets a ride to Springfield.

    Bummer.

    UPDATE

The little lady came back today and she's perfect. Springfield customer service and repairs were top shelf. Communication was top shelf.

Wahoo for me, my EMP and the folks at Springfield!!!
