Re: Mobile 1 for gun lube
I wouldn't. Some engine oils have additives in them that I wouldn't want to risk. It sounds like a good idea but the additives are designed to do certain things in an engine and under high temperatures. It's also a pretty think oil that's likely to attract more then protect.

Re: Mobile 1 for gun lube
Ive never used it myself, but some people swear by it. Im interested to hear what others have to say. I have used hydraulic oil with good results, tho.

In a pinch I'm sure it'll work fine. But why not just ditch the the motor oil and the crappy hoppes and get yourself some weapon shield or FP-10.

Mobil 1 is fine to use on firearms. I know of people that use it with no issues.

Well, nothing really. but that doesn't mean there's not better alternatives.
Just like there's nothing wrong with a ford escort but if you can get a cadilliac for close to the same price then why not.
I don't know much about the science but from my personal experience weaponshield is good shit. Plus George is a great guy and I'd rather give my money to him.

i use quaker state 5w30 for my m3hb, its too cost prohibitive to use weapon shield or any other gun lube.
