Where do you get your Steel Targets
There are a lot of online places that sell steel targets of various form, shape, function, etc.
ETA: I am addressing pistol caliber training only here, not rifle.
Where do you get yours?
Do you make it?
Have a local shop with scrap make it for you?
I want to start my own little collection for practicing
Do you think Steel is better than some of the "polymer" reactive targets?
(I like it cause it's fun to shoot and hear it go PING for one thing).
I've seen some of the reactive polymer targets that are in the shape of torsos (2-D) that can take 2K rounds - they cost around $30-50 if memory serves, but the bases are more expensive. They can be automated for hit counts - I would not be getting that sophisticated.
I've seen some auto resetting poppers out there but they tend to get $$.
Any feedback welcome - yes I tried to search on this topic - nothing turned up for me in this forum.Last edited by falcn; March 26th, 2010 at 03:26 PM.

Re: Where do you get your Steel Targets
ar500 or better, from work....i'm one of the guys qualified on the firey and watery cutty stuff...so..any size, shape or style i want...but i'm a big fan of stand alone stuff.
i would like to put a few hanging targets at the range, but they are not really on board with that....yet.
i don't like poppers....i feel they can send projetiles skyward, and over backstops.
knock downs are neat if you have a truck load of them. it sucks having to walk after every mag or cylinder.it's only metal, we can out think it....

Ah man you suck! J/K
I don't have access to steel or a welder or plasma cutter or water jet cutter.
We do have standing speed racks on our pistol range, but I want to assemble something to train with on the IPSC bays we have at our range that allow us to draw from holster, move, etc.FNX-9 Two-tone
