    Default First day carrying

My permit came a couple of days ago and today I went "out on the town." It felt natural, I found myself constantly tugging at my sweatshirt, but nobody could tell. The most important part (to me) was that I didn't feel awkward like I expected it to, which was a pleasant surprise. My wife is all for it 100% and she is going to get hers soon as well.

Welcome to the club. LOL The consciousness about the fact that you're carrying will go away soon, and you will forget it is there. Believe it or not, I even went through it as a cop. Be safe and have the wife hurry up!

Welcome to the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave! LOL

I had pretty much the same experience, being around guns so much.

I heard the first thing you should do is go shopping at the Mall, to see if you can "handle it". Seems kinda strange to me now, LOL

Heck, you're not really comfortable until you carry to church.

Welcome, fellow citizen! You now have an awesome responsibility; do not look upon it lightly. Remember every day why our Founding Fathers chose to constitutionally protect this inalienable right.

It will pass. Most people wont even notice you're carrying. Especially if you're carrying concealed. I open carry whenever I'm in PA or VA and no one seems to even notice, or care. Even here in NY carrying concealed was a bit weird the first week, but you get over it and eventually find that going out and NOT carrying to be awkward!!!

    Hey Turbinesaint,

Congratulations on receiving your license to carry firearms and also on carrying a concealed weapon for the first time. I was just like you always tugging at my shirt, etc. Also it must be great to have a wife who is so supportive of your firearm related endeavors. And good luck to her too!

    Take care,

    rand

You'll get over it, but the tugging at the shirt thing really isn't as big of a tell as people make it out to be. Everyone does it regardless of whether they're carrying.
