    Default Best for home defense?

What would you most want to use for home defense?

    a semi-auto AK 47, a Saiga-12, or a full size .45ACP

(using any ammo you want in the biggest mags you want, and assuming that over-penetration is not a factor)

Exactly what are we defending our home against in this scenario?

The pistol is intended to allow you to fight your way to the rifle(s).

All three - Saiga slung over one shoulder, AK over the other, and your .45 in a holster.

my vote is "other"...namely an AR.

of the choices you list, though, i would go with the AK or the saiga.

i would never choose a handgun when a long gun was available.

OK. Realistically? None of the above.
I would choose a pump action shotgun over a semi-auto shotgun out of concern for reliability.

Of the three listed, I guess I may consider the AK, as it is most handy/reliable/purpose-built/high capacity effective "man-stopper" of the group.

It really depends on what is going on in the mind of the person answering the poll. If we're talking 1-3 guys busting in, the choice will likely be different than that of someone envisioning a band of looters breaking down the door during a period of civil unrest.

Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

Ok, I choose the Saiga, for one reason only over the rest of them.

    That reason is;

If another member of your family needs to use it, a shotgun is a point and shoot weapon. While the pistol in 45 acp (which is what I carry) takes practice to be proficient with.

While the wife does own a 380, she doesn't like the recoil from the 45 and hasn't shot it but once or twice. But with the shotgun she can point in the general direction and still have a good chance to take out a BG, hallways are good for this...

Just my not so humble opinion

I think claymores are the funniest weapons ever. Just because they literally have the words "this end toward enemy" on them.
    Everyone should have an AK-47
