Default need Kimber CDP II 1911 help

I was at the local Gander Mountain today and looking at some 1911's there. I came across one in particular that I really like the feel of and it just seemed to fit my hand perfectly.

It was a Kimber Pro CDP II this thing looked and felt great.

I am just getting into the 1911 type pistols and have done quite a bit of research on this and it seems that people either love this model (Kimber) or they totaly loath it.
I was just looking for any 1st hand experience with this model Kimber Pro CDP II. I am looking for a gun for conceal carry that I could trust me and my families life with.
Right now I carry a Sig 220 Elite that fits the bill right now. just looking for something smaller and easy to conceal during warmer weather.

I am looking forward to finding a good 1911 and no I can not afford a Wilson Combat CQB.

Any help in direction is much appreciated.
    Thanks Cybersurf

I love mine, 4 inch barrel, single stack .45 mag, I think it is very concealable. I have a 3 inch barrel PT140, that's the Taurus, 10 round mag, and the Kimber is just a flatter gun. And its great looking too!

The Kimber looks and felt great when I was looking at it at the shop.
How well does it shoot? Any major issues during the break in?

    Thanks

Well I pulled the trigger so to speak and purchased the cdp II

I got a lot of info from a 1911 board on another sight.
I thank you for the input as I am sure I will love this gun and was even offered help if I have any problems with the "break in"

    Thanks

Sit around and cycle it a lot. Don't drop the slide on an empty chamber and don't ease the hammer down.....dry fire it.

And run it WET with lube.

I've had mine about 5 years now, and it shoots great. Sometimes inserting a fresh mag, it needs a bump to get the slide to fully seat, but its rare. It fits the hand so well, feels great to carry, just a fun gun to shoot. I sure you will enjoy it.

Thanks for the information. The guy that sold it to me actuall said to dry fire it alot after lubing it up.
Man that pistol was bone dry when I got it , so I added some Weaponshield to it and have been dry firing with snap caps .

I will cycle it alot because that make alot of sense and will help save a little ammo at first. This pistol is tight and I can tell it's going to need broken in.

Can you suggest any 8 round mags for the Pro CDP II the one that comes with it is all steel and actually feels kinda on the cheap side?

Again thank you very much for the info.

When I picked it up at the shop it fit my hand so well that even the point and aim came very natural . So far the best that I picked up. I thought my Sig 220 45ACP felt good, this just felt as natuaral as it comes.

    Just hope it shoots well.

    Thanks

The CDP has a aluminum frame so you may want to consider using a plastic follower as the steel followers will mark the frame up a bit (although it doesn't seem to harm anything).

Wilson Combat makes nice mags with the plastic followers (47D's).

I mostly use the Chip McCormick shooting stars.
