Re: looking for a cheaper or slightly used ar-15
Check out Stag, Bushmaster, and Rock River. They are good AR's that can be had at less then $1000 (depending on model).
There was a very nice, used Stag carbine at Cabela's this weekend for $675III%

The thread title, coupled with very little info in the OP, makes this read like a "WTB" ad for the classified section.
Please clarify, or thread will be deleted.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Pick up a cheap lower at AIM or some place, then get a Del-Ton kit. You'll have about $600-$650 wrapped up.

Re: looking for a cheaper or slightly used ar-15
If willing to entertain the AKM;
Then highly advise the tank-like Yugo AKM from Century. Best AK on the planet for the little bucks you will spend.
Of course their cheaper WASR AKMs are fine too, they have the standard AKM recvr as opposed to the Yugo "RPK" recvr. Just be sure to look the WASR over first, so as to be sure of straight sights and gas-block. Regardless, Cent stands by their products.
Good place to start;
