what type of charges/time would I face if I got caught with a gun in philadelphia without a carry with permit? I know quite a few people here in philly who carry concealed guns in public and when i ask them if they have a ccw permit some didnt even know they existed....

§ 6106. Firearms not to be carried without a license.
(a) Offense defined.--
(1) Except as provided in paragraph (2), any person who
carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a
firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place
of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and
lawfully issued license under this chapter commits a felony
of the third degree.
(2) A person who is otherwise eligible to possess a
valid license under this chapter but carries a firearm in any
vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or
about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place
of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license and
has not committed any other criminal violation commits a
misdemeanor of the first degree.

§ 6108. Carrying firearms on public streets or public property
in Philadelphia.
No person shall carry a firearm, rifle or shotgun at any time
upon the public streets or upon any public property in a city of
the first class unless:
(1) such person is licensed to carry a firearm; or
(2) such person is exempt from licensing under section
6106(b) of this title (relating to firearms not to be carried
without a license).

So what exacly does that mean? theres 2 descriptions there, also would I have to do any time if I got caught without a carry with permit or go to court? Thx

I don't know why you would not just go and get your LTCF, then this would all be a non-issue.

As for your question above, it looks to me to be a first degree misdemeanor, only if you have had no other criminal violations. Again, this is how it reads to me, so I would confirm this elsewhere.

For an M2 you can be sentenced up to two years in jail and a $2,500.00 fine.

Personally that sounds like a crock to me - didn't know they existed? C.mon...

I'd be scared spitless to carry without a permit. You get caught and you are royally screwed.

In my county the refernces had to be not only from PA, but from my county. I used co-workers. They know we go to ranges and shoot.
