Re: Concealed Carry question
If I can put down people I know from NY than its all good but here in philly the people I know I dont want knowing that I carry a gun around. If any of you guys want to be references for me that would be great, also I do meet all the other requirements, I never been arrested or have any type of mental illness record.

Re: Concealed Carry question
It seems that every county is different. I don't know why. I live in Erie county which is huge. The Erie county sheriff is pro-gun. Maybe that helps with the permits. Fill out the app and leave the references blank. See what they say. Then ask them if you really need PA residents/references. If not. Put you NY friends in. I did. Don't not apply because of references. And tell them the truth, that you would rather not put any locals down as a reference. Honesty usually works. Don't be afraid to express your concerns to the sheriff. You will get through this. Did you already buy a gun in PA? If you did then you passed the PICS. Don't sweat it. There is a x cop from philly on this forum. Maybe you can ask him some questions. I think his name is actually xcopinphilly, on this forum. Look around for him or pm him. He seems like a decent man and probably can give you some valuable information.

Re: Concealed Carry question
Here in Philly, if you leave the references part blank, you will nopt get issued until you provide the references. I am sure you can think of someone who will be a reference, even if you have to try with people who live in NY, and write an explanation, or just give it when they interview you. Philly, also does a PICS and NCIC check on every permit application.

Re: Concealed Carry question
Just curious.
Do they normally check the references?
They didn't check mine. I asked my references.
What would happen if your reference gave a bad reference?
Whats is NCIC?

Hi Michele. NCIC is: National Crime Information Center.
NCIC is a computerized index of criminal justice information (i.e.- criminal record history information, fugitives, stolen properties, missing persons). It is available to Federal, state, and local law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies and is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
