Gentlemen I would just like to say that I am proud to be among
"Patriots". General George Washington would be proud to among
us. Its people like us that will save the schools, save the children
and protect and preserve the constitution when it hangs by a th-
read. Rally around the flag boys and may god bless you all. I'm glad
to be an american and to be living in the U.S.A. .

I agree with what you say. However, take this into account,

Dont swear allegiance to a flag, or an imaginary line drawn on a map.

Be loyal to the ideals of freedom and justice instead.

The American flag STANDS for freedom and justice! It was Created by our for-fathers, it is a symbol of what makes this country so great, the people. And im not talking about any govt. politics. I do not view the flag as a symbol for lines drawn on a map, that is what a map is for to show boundires, not a flag. The flag is a symbol of everything free and good in our nation. It is also a symbol and memorial to all the brave soldiers who have faught and died to protect our way of life. Never forget them, and the flag never will let that memory die. Govt. laws and policies come and go, but the flag will always be there. As a American swear proud alegiance to my flag, For i love my country with all my heart.

Drak, only you could manage to prove my point by trying to disprove it. Although I agree with where you are coming from, Nationalism is not a bad thing, how many times do I refer to Argentina as "My Country", it is important to understand history and the methods of control used on us since the beginning of time.

The pledge of allegiance was the origin of the salute of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nazi Party). It is a brown stain on American heritage. The original pledge of allegiance used a straight-arm salute because Francis Bellamy was a self-proclaimed national socialist who promoted “military socialism” (a Bellamy term). To promote militarism, Bellamy started the pledge of allegiance with a military salute. The military salute was held for the phrase “I pledge allegiance” and then the right arm extended straight outward toward the flag for the rest of the chant. I am extreamly insulted. I guess you can have your own ideas as to what is what in current politics, but i am a believer in what the flag was Originally created for. And for you to say i am a socialist because i love and believe in my flag and what it stands for, well then that is a insult to me. And im not talking about "PLEDGE OF ALLEGENCE", im talking about the love to symbol of ALL our freedoms! Many brave men and women have died in defence of this symbol.

THE CHILDREN PHILLY!!!!! DON'T YOU SEE!?!?!?!?!

    On a more serious note...

Diego's quote of Lewis is absolutely true. This is not saying that having pride in being American is bad, or that being christian is bad (I am christian myself). What we have to be careful of is fundamentalists. People that would impose their moral code on others so far as to make it national law, are the people that would promote Facism by The Cross.

This concept is also the same reason that many people disagree with the war in Iraq. We do love our freedom, and our ideas... but the imposition of those ideas onto others is very wrong indeed.

    Be careful of your convictions...

//EDIT: Just to be very clear... I give all respect to the Men and Women who are serving in our Armed Forces. Not enough respect is given to them by politicians and many a liberal.. I thank God everyday that they are willing to lay their lives down for the preservation of my way of life.

And the Award for Biggest Misinterpretation of an Internet Post in the Year 2006 goes to.... Drak!!

How is that insulting? And where am I calling you a socialist??
Me and you both believe that the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are the finest documents ever written. And even they are nothing more than pieces of paper with patterns of ink on them.

What they represent is whats important, not the objects themselves.

Freedom and Justice come from the heart, not from a textile factory in Taiwan.

Im sorry if you feel insulted by my post. I really am.
