Re: What Shotgun Shells to stock up on.
Hmmm you really are limiting yourself, with an extremely versatile weapon.
The problem is trying to stockpile one shot size to eliminate threats and possibly hunt is IMO a huge compromise.
Maybe #2 or #4
I would strongly urge considering 00buck in large quantity and at least 8-10 boxes of #6 high brass for random hunting. 250 rounds of #6 will put a lot of food on the table.FUCK BIDEN

See here:

Note that I'm recommending either #1 or #2 buck. There is also a #1 and #2 steel shot, and a #2 lead shot, that's not what I'm talking about.
Not sure exactly, but have to believe range would be comparable to other types of buck.
Also note that EM's option is a good one as well if you're considering more than one type of shot.Last edited by ChamberedRound; March 12th, 2010 at 10:03 PM.

If you're limiting yourself to 1 size shotgun round, I'd go with #4 shot. It's large enough for SD, but still can be used for hunting.

I'd skip birdshot, and probably any buckshot short smaller than #1, for defensive use.

Stock up on any and all that you can afford to buy. A shotgun is a versatile tool, have a versatile assortment of shells.. Everything from slugs to fine #12 shot.
Sticking with just 1, 2, even 4 or 5 loads for a shotgun is like tying one arm behind your back, or using 10rd mags in a G19 in a state that doesn't have capacity restrictions, or using a silly NASCAR restrictor plate at a NHRA dragstrip..RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Re: What Shotgun Shells to stock up on.
No concerns. I plan on shooting right thru them.
Any time you fire in a house, you have some wall penetration concerns. I don't have any neighbors, and I know where the kids rooms are. So, wall penetration is not a major conern. Once I know where the kids are, any wall can be removed (Via Shotgun Slugs) if need be.
I'm cutting the barrel off my shotgun myself. Will this make a difference in what rounds you guys are recommending. The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control....

Re: What Shotgun Shells to stock up on.
In this case I would stick with 00 or some other buck shot.
Edit:
Assuming this will be the only shotgun or barrel.Last edited by God's Country; March 13th, 2010 at 10:18 AM.
