So some can use them for sporting purposes while they tell everyone not to support firearms.

It's actually 27 shotguns according to the RFP. This part caught my eye

14" LOP are designated as the only shotguns authorized for ED based on compatibility with ED existing shotgun inventory, certified armor and combat training and protocol, maintenance, and parts.
Combat training for the Dept. of Education?

Seriously, I did some checking and found out these are for the LLADL. No big worry here. What is the LLADL?, you ask. Oh, that is the 'Lunch Lady Anti-Defamation League'. No more making fun of the mystery meat!

And delivery for said shotguns is Chicago?
Some of the strictest gun rules in the country and they need 27 shotguns for somewhere in the school system?
For what? Guarding the lunch money truck?

it's obvious: they need them for the school security guards, who patrol the outer wall of the yard.

Obviously, it's Plan B for making sure that no child is left behind. The same way that the Soviet Army at Stalingrad made sure that none of the cannon fodder troops lagged behind.

It's all part of balancing the budget. Compare the cost of running a kid through the 4th grade a second time, to a 5-pack of 00 Buck. Hey, the senior citizens rebelled at being taken off life support to save Medicare some money, and they vote, so the government had to look elsewhere to do some pruning.
