Interesting to note the site said all military surplus 7.62 Russian was corrosive..

Another question, I plan on refinishing the stock. Nothing major, just a light sanding and coat. I got all the cosmo off of it. But i know there is some absorbed in the stock. Should I gently use a heat gun to draw it out before I do this?

You should operate under the assumption that all military surplus, regardless of nation, is corrosive.

Modern commercial stuff isn't. At least I don't know of any corrosive commercial stuff.

It will sweat out while shooting it, or you could place it in the sun in a black garbage bag.

I just shot mine and took some old rags with me to the range.
