    Default XD Subcompacts

While shopping around for the Sig P238, I came across the Springfield XD Subcompacts (9mm-.40). Looks like I'll be waiting until retirement for the
P238, so, as an alternate ccw, what are your thoughts on the XD subcompacts? Thank you for your ideas.

xd is a wonderful gun. My friends wife has a sub compact in 9mm and she loves it, I personally would prefer the compact or the full size (believe they call it the tactical) for any number of reasons which have nothing to do with the gun. I recently bought a tactical version of the xd in .40. I've fired over 200 rounds through the sub in one day with no problems at all

I carry the 3" sub .40 a few times a week. Love it and I hate plastic.
And if you want to race, name the place and I'll show you where it's at mother f@#$&#!

Have carried a subcompact XD9 for a long time now. Have shot IDPA with it. It shoots very good. I put a crimson trace laser on mine.

I carry an XD-SC in 9mm. That I can carry 13+1 in a gun of this size is very impressive.

I highly reccomend the Pearce grip extension, as seen in Mtbkski's post. I carry IWB with a Comp-Tac MTAC and a Beltman gun belt, and it's very comfortable and very concealable.

Thank you - I do prefer IWB cc; but I do have a fanny pack to use. Then, allow me to ask is there a difference in the handling/recoil of the 9mm vs .40? Or why your preference in caliber? Hopefully, if I can try both calibers, that would be best for decision making - but if not, I am comfortable with the 9mm......

I like the idea of being able to get back on target again quicker. And a 9mm allows me to do that.

If you are a smaller person and/or new to shooting, I'd recommend the 9mm. There will be an immediately noticeable difference in recoil between 9mm and .40 in a gun the size of the XD subcompact. You will also carry around 4 more rounds with the 9mm XD-SC.
