    Default Application Process Question

I have been searching on this forum this morning to try to find the answer to a rumor we're hearing out here. Is it correct that as of Jan 1, 2011 persons must apply for PA ccw permits in person and won't be able to get them by mail anymore?

in my county of residence we have to apply in person anyway. the process varies from county to county, not saying it should, but it does.

Hmm Well right now as an Illinois resident we send our applications into Centre Co Sherriffs office and do it all by mail. We keep hearing that that's going to change and won't be able to do that anymore starting Jan 1.

have you tried calling the Centre co. sheriff and asking him/her? I would assume going straight to the source would be better than depending on what you've "been hearing". don't trust anything you read.

there has been talk about unifying and standardizing LTCF processes, but until something actually happens I dont believe anything.

    See this thread:

BTW, I thought IL (where the OP is from) did not issue any conceal carry permits...and that is required for a non-resident to get a PA LTCF.

I believe the law is if the state issues permits.

Since IL does not they can apply to Pa. One of the few benefits to living in IL and not one of the may issue states.
