    Cool!
I've always been drawn to those French MAS rifles.
Should have bought one years... DECADES ago.
"Odd" ammo was my reason for never getting one.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Mine is a great shooter, although not quite as accurate as my SKS. 7.5 French isn't terribly hard to find - PPU makes new ammo, although it's a bit pricey. I've heard horror stories about the original firing pin overpenetrating primers with new ammo but have never had that issue myself. MAS-49s occasionally pop up for sale in bulk - CFA/RTI had a bunch of dubious condition (Ethiopian?) 49/56s for sale earlier this year but they have definitely gotten expensive. "The best time to buy surplus is two decades ago, the second best time is now".

The integral bayonet (which the 44 and Syrian 49 have, but the French 49 and 49/56 do not) is incredibly skinny, and it wibbles and wobbles when locked into the socket. I can't imagine trying to use it for the intended purpose.

    Good plan.
With what 9mm costs these days, it's so much more cost effective to stab bad guys.

    Lol true that!
I hear drive-by bayoneting are on the rise in the hood.

Here is the M1 with an M5 bayonet, I prefer the M5 over the longer M1905 (16") and M1 (10") it locks up tighter and does not wobble as much.

And yes all the bandoleers are full
