    Default Carrying in Spring Turkey?

I am sorry if this question has already been asked.

In the regs it says that it is unlawful to carry a single projectile handgun while turkey hunting. this will be my first year with a LTCF assuming i get approved if i have it can i carry a handgun while hunting in spring turkey season? I am assuming i can but i just wanna be sure especially as i may be hunting on some state game lands?

sorry if this is a dumb question. thanks for the answers.

This is totally out of curiosity, so don't take it the wrong way. But do you mind if I ask why you would want to carry a handgun turkey hunting?

Why not? And if you have a LTCF you can carry while hunting. I do.

It is legal to carry a pistol/revolver for defense of yourself and other while hunting. Of course, as long as you do not attempt to take game with it.

Sometimes I think that the game commision makes rules just to make them. I would carry, you never know when your going to need it. Plus this year I'm planning on using a bow for spring gobbler and thats just one more reason to have a potent backup for all of the predator animals that the game commision brought in to PA.

Since 2007 you are permitted to carry a "non-sporting" (as in in not legal to take game with during that season) handgun during hunting seasons provided you have an LTCF ~and~ the sidearm is only used for self defense.

A LTCF authorizes only "firearms" as defined by SS6102 of the UFA.

I quote the definition below. Essentially it includes handguns, short barreled rifles short barreled shotguns and some AOW's

So, carry two!! you said 'single' meaning one, get it? Never mind, it's not funny if I have to explain it!

one thing is that I have seen a lot of bears while small game hunting and i don't want to irritate one of with my game loads.

but the other is some people are idiots even in the woods and my 26 inch barreled 3 shot pump is not that comforting.

Do not see any hand gun that will do what that shotgun would not do. But i still have my 19 in case i lose my shotgun.
In a world of compromise some men dont.
