Default BATFE BANS Non-Lethal Training Ammunition For Civilian Use

Is this an over reaction/exaggeration, or is it what it sounds like - feds don't want you training with guns?

BATFE BANS Non-Lethal Training Ammunition For Civilian Use

Shared via Instagram by Aaron Cowan of Sage Dynamics, a UTM memo detailing how the BATFE has ordered UTM to stop selling their non-lethal training ammo (NLTA) to anyone other than law enforcement and the military. RECOIL has confirmed this directly with UTM.

How and why the BATFE feels they have this authority to decide law-abiding civilians can*t have NLTA arbitrarily is a mystery to us at this time.

UTM*s NLTA is imported from the UK and thus might be subject to *sporting use* importation laws. Likewise, Simunitions are imported from Canada and might get the same order from the BATFE if they haven*t already.

We spoke with Simunitions but they declined to comment.

    WHY YOU SHOULD CARE

We know force-on-force training isn*t something most of us do every weekend. The fact is, most of us never do it in our lives. That said, it is extremely useful training that should be available to every legal firearm owner.
This is another example of the BATFE using its made-up power to invent de facto laws and regulations to suppress Americans* right to bear arms. Training and access to ammunition are central to our Second Amendment rights.

Idk if they were offically banned but sim rounds have been hard to come by and really expensive if you do find them in any quantities.

Not an overreaction -- that's exactly what this is. They definitely don't want the People to be able to train or be "well-regulated", i.e. well-functioning in the proper meaning of the phrase.

They want us disarmed and defenseless and totally dependent on their provision.

If they can ban imports on UTMs for us lowly non-military and non-law enforcement types, what's to stop them from banning all ammo imports?

Basically nothing, unless we make noise and be heard to put a stop to this overreach.

I just sold a bunch of training rounds. Should have held on to them. I think I still have some 9mm left.

There was a place by me that was set up for this. It closed after an outside group rented it and well there always that one person and lazy RO.
But it would be done now regardless.

Not to mention their $300 bolt you need too convert your firearm.

If you just want to train just buy an Airsoft rifle. They are the same size and function identically to the real firearm and cost a fraction of a penny per shot. And as long as everyone is wearing eye / face protection you can shoot each other.

Besides the noise I don't see any advantage to training with specialty ammo at over $1 a shot. Sounds like a good example of government waste. I don't like the government getting involved but I doubt there were many "civilians" using these.

It doesn't matter if there were only FIVE civilians using them. That isn't the point.
