I have an IZH BB in 22 mag. Very accurate and the toggle bolt is super fast. It's not as high tech as those used in the games, but it wasn't nearly as expensive either.

The only issue I have with my BB is that it is picky about the ammo that feeds. At times I have difficulty with follow up shots when using certain ammo. I know the rifle shoots the HSM ammo the best, but it doesn't cycle it 100%.

I have a related question...this saves me from a new thread

If the Olympics were to be held in a country that had a total gun ban or even one that limited ownership to shotguns, what would they do about the biathlon?

IMO It would be hipocritical for the government to allow the guns for the Olympics, but that is my guess as how they would address the situation. They'd probably just call it a legitimate exception since it's the olympics & it would result in less revenue & probable controversy if they were to ban a certain sport for one olympics.

Are there any countries with wholesale bans on 22's? Any of them have winter weather?

Seems to me there were some problems and special exceptions involving firearms when Japan hosted the Olympics (both S and W) . Something involving British shooters maybe?

Doesn't great Britain's team have to practice in France for that very reason?

If that's the case there needs to be new rules. Make it so that if you can't legally practice the sport in your country, your country doesn't get to field a team in that event.

I agree with your intentions, but have you ever heard of the Jamaican bob-sled team ?

22 bolt-action rifles are legal in GB.

Pistols, on the other hand are illegal, which affects their summer olympic team.
