Default Anyone ever heard of an Aimpoint edition Ruger Super Redhawk?

    All,
Have you ever heard of an Aimpoint edition Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 Magnum? It has comes with an Aimpoint red dot sight on a rail that clamps to the barrel cutout and screws into the rear sight mount.

I stopped at a sort of local store and this guy was looking at it. Nobody in the store had ever heard of one before.

It has the Aimpoint logo stamped into the frame, and has black Pachmyr grips that have a "red dot" logo instead of the standard Ruger eagle logo.

    It was definitely pretty cool.

    ever heard of one?

It looked like the guy was gonna buy it, but I may stop back in a few days and see if he did or not

It was probably a special run for a large company like Davidsons, Dicks, Cabelas, ect...

Many retailers order up special runs so they can run ads that claim "Exclusively available at XXXXX's!!".

IMO, it would be only worth what a normal Super Redhawk sporting an Aimpoint would be worth.

    It was stainless version.

It came with leather gun belt and holster that held the Aimpoint scope attached.

It included RCBS 3 piece carbide die set, 700 CCI primers, a box of 100 Sierra 240 Gr JHP bullets, about 100 rounds loaded ammo in boxes, and about 50 rounds of brass and a speedloader.

They wanted $675 for the package. Good deal?

    Greetings PAfarmboy:

I know this thread is a bit old, I hope you see it.

I am in the process of obtaining a Ruger/Aimpoint Redhawk myself. I hope to get it this weekend or possibly the next. It is the only firearm I am able to obtain from the estate of a great friend who died a while back. Not a good way to aquire a firearm, but I know he would want me to have it.

I vaguely remember he bought it back in the 80s. I recall seeing the add in a gun magazine, at the time I wasn't interested in owning one.

1000 of these where made. I know they came with a leather holster and belt, and I thought a fitted aluminum case. I am not sure about the case...there does not seem to be one associated with the revolver I am acquiring or it has gone missing... I would like to know for sure.

This one has not been fired often. I know it was fired at least once...a ND in my buddy's dinning room. I am glad I was not there for that.

Here is a link to one that was up for sale: Ruger/Aimpoint

I know the sight has been discontinued, it was in production 83 to 86.

I hope you see this. I would welcome more info about this revolver. I emailed Ruger about this offering but I have not heard back.

It seems it was a Redhawk, and not a Super Redhawk. It was a neat oddity to see. From what I have gathered, it was pretty small edition and it really didnt have any extra value. On some Ruger forums I found, no one had even heard of it.

Congrats on you obtaining one. I should have bought the one I saw, I want a 44 magnum, and this one had lots of extras with it.

Yes...Redhawk. I am glad, I never cared for the way the Super Redhawk looks.

You don't recall any details of a/the case do you?

    thanks

I did not see a case for it in the box of extra stuff it had with it. Still kick myself for not getting it.

Oh well, if there was one, there will be another pop up someday.

Post up picks when u get it

    Humm...Maybe I imagined the case.

Yes I will put a pic on here for you.

And if I see one for sale, I will post that as well.

    Hello PAfarmboy and Ruger fans:

Here are pics of my Ruger, I was able to transfer ownership on Monday and went to the range today.

In addition to the revolver, I also got: the origional custom belt and holster, and a file containing the certificate that it is 1 of 1000, a copy of the original add, and the manuals.

Also in the folder was a copy of the August 1984 edition of the American Hunter magazine. In the magazine is an article about the package.

In 1984, the Aimpoint Hunter's Redhawk was available from Maryland Gun Works in Hyattstown, MD.

The hammer and trigger where jeweled and the action was lightly stoned by them. It came with Pachmayr grips.

The leather was from Tex Shoemaker. I was mistaken, it did not come with a fitted case, I must have imagined that.

The revolver with the sight weighs in at 4 pounds, 15 ounces. It is very pleasant to shoot.

My friend left behind an estate of an even 50 firearms, this was the only one I was able to acquire. The rest are for sale in two different gun shops, one in Maine and one in New Jersey (of all places).

I like it. The one I was looking at had a silver colored aimpoint sight, but other than that, looked just like that one. How did it shoot? How is the recoil on the .44 Mag? I have never gotten to shoot a .44 mag before.

Where you shoot at near Hanover? Ive shot at the Mcsherrystown Fish and Game before.
